Introduction
At Coopers Edge School there is capacity for 14 governors – one Local Authority governor agreed between the governing body and Gloucestershire County Council, one staff governor elected by the school staff, the head teacher, two parent governors who are elected by the school’s parent body; three foundation governors who are appointed by Coopers Edge Trust and six co-opted governors.
The key roles of the governing body are:
- Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction of the school;
- Holding the headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils, and the performance management of staff; and
- Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.
