Parent Updates:
PE -Mondays and Fridays will be our PE days this term. Mondays will be outside so please dress appropriately for the weather. Children will come into school wearing their kit and will remain in them all day (no extra washing hopefully!).
Homework - will be given out on a Thursday and collected back in on a Tuesday. Please note that we will give answer sheets out for you to mark with your child at home.
Reading – please record daily reading in reading records.
Spelling tests – lists will be given out by the end of this week. No test the first Friday back (we aren’t that mean!).
Stationary – we don’t need anything brought in from home. We have everything pupils will need here ready. All pupils need are: a water bottle, school bag (not too big please, our cloakroom is small and all they need to fit in are reading records, homework folders and a water bottle), and lunchboxes (if not school dinners).

Class Texts - Spring
1. Boy in the Tower

Ade lives on the seventeenth floor of a tower block with his agoraphobic mother, who is too afraid to leave their home. As the story unfolds, strange plant-like creatures known as Bluchers begin to invade the city, causing buildings to collapse and forcing most residents to evacuate. However, Ade chooses to stay behind to care for his mother, who is unable to cope with the outside world.
As the Bluchers take over, Ade watches from his window as the city becomes increasingly desolate and dangerous. He grapples with feelings of isolation and fear while trying to protect his mother and himself. The narrative explores themes of resilience, community, and the struggle to maintain hope in the face of adversity.
2. A Midsummer Night's Dream

A Midsummer Night's Dream is a romantic comedy by William Shakespeare that intertwines the lives of four Athenian lovers and a group of fairies in a magical forest. The play explores themes of love, magic, and transformation as the characters navigate misunderstandings and enchantments, particularly due to the mischievous fairy Puck. Ultimately, the chaos resolves in a series of marriages and reconciliations, highlighting the whimsical nature of love and the interplay between reality and illusion.
