Parent Updates:

PE -Mondays and Fridays will be our PE days this term. Mondays will be outside so please dress appropriately for the weather. Children will come into school wearing their kit and will remain in them all day (no extra washing hopefully!).

Homework - will be given out on a Thursday and collected back in on a Tuesday. Please note that we will give answer sheets out for you to mark with your child at home.

Reading – please record daily reading in reading records.

Spelling tests – lists will be given out by the end of this week. No test the first Friday back (we aren’t that mean!).

Stationary – we don’t need anything brought in from home. We have everything pupils will need here ready. All pupils need are: a water bottle, school bag (not too big please, our cloakroom is small and all they need to fit in are reading records, homework folders and a water bottle), and lunchboxes (if not school dinners).

1. Secrets of the Sun King

Sun King

The story is set in November 1922, during a time of great excitement surrounding the discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb in Egypt. Thirteen-year-old Lilian Kaye finds a mysterious package on her grandfather's doorstep, sent by a renowned Egyptologist who has just been found dead. As her grandfather falls ill, Lilian suspects that the package may be connected to an ancient curse. Determined to help her grandfather, she embarks on an adventure with her friends, Tulip and Oz, to return the package to its rightful place in Egypt and uncover the secrets of the Sun King

2. 5 Children and IT

5 IT

"Five Children and It" is a fantasy children's novel by E. Nesbit that follows the adventures of five siblings—Cyril, Anthea, Robert, Jane, and their baby brother, the Lamb who discover a magical creature known as the Psammead in a gravel pit. The Psammead grants them one wish each day, but the wishes only last until sunset, leading to humorous and often comical consequences. The story explores themes of responsibility, friendship, and the power of wishes, as the siblings learn valuable lessons about the importance of thinking carefully about what they want.
